□ The completion ceremony for the Suyeonggang Human Bridge was held at 14:00 on February 12, 2026, on the upper deck of the pedestrian bridge facing APEC Naru Park.
□ The Suyeonggang Human Bridge project is one of Busan’s flagship pedestrian-focused 15-minute city initiatives, launched in 2020. By reconnecting the previously divided eastern and western banks of the Suyeonggang River, it aims to strengthen walkability and enhance access to waterfront cultural settings.
□ With the bridge’s opening, housing areas in Suyeong-gu, APEC Naru Park in Haeundae-gu, and the Busan Cinema Center are now unified into a single walkable zone, allowing citizens to reach waterfront facilities and attractions on foot.
○ Forming a pedestrian corridor stretching across Gwangalli Beach, the Suyeonggang River, the Busan Cinema Center, and Haeundae Beach, the Suyeonggang Human Bridge transcends its role as a simple passageway to become a spot where visitors can pause, linger, and appreciate panoramic views.
○ Accordingly, it is expected to emerge as a signature pedestrian tourism icon, providing daily leisure for locals and a fresh riverside destination for travelers.
□ Busan plans to endorse the Suyeonggang Human Bridge as its first pedestrian-exclusive street.
○ Pursuant to Article 16 of the Act on the Promotion of Pedestrian Safety & Convenience, the entire section will be reserved for pedestrians. Vehicles, bicycles, and personal mobility devices will be prohibited, ensuring comfortable and pleasant conditions for all users, including transportation-vulnerable groups.
○ This eco-friendly walking environment will accelerate the transition to a walkable community while improving overall quality of life.
□ Mayor Park Heong-joon stated, “The Suyeonggang Human Bridge is a symbolic example that best embodies the 15-minute city philosophy we pursue—linking neighborhood paths with mountains, rivers, shores, and points of interest via pedestrian networks. We will strive to make Busan a place one would wish to live in again if born anew, where residents stroll, meet neighbors, and foster warmth with one another.”
The Suyeonggang Human Bridge was officially opened to the public at 10:00 a.m. on March 3, 2026.
