□ In anticipation of the BTS World Tour being held for the first time in nearly four years, Busan will expand efforts to accept online complaints and perform on-site checks through its QR overcharging reporting system to prevent improper practices at hotels and guesthouses.
○ The QR reporting tool allows domestic and international travelers to simply scan a QR code and immediately file any issues they encounter. The Korea Tourism Organization (Phone: 1330) then transfers claims to the responsible municipalities and partner agencies.
○ Initiated by the Ministry of Culture, Sports & Tourism in October 2025, it is currently featured on the city’s website banner. Last November, Busan distributed promotional stickers and posters and began active outreach via local gu and gun offices as well as the Busan Tourism Association.
□ Starting this week, joint teams from gus, guns, and the city will assess identified establishments, verify compliance by operators, and provide guidance where necessary.
○ Gu and gun offices regularly monitor tourist facilities. Cases of suspected excessive charging and failure to meet advertised conditions are reflected in ratings.
□ Going forward, Busan plans to convene meetings with concerned entities to examine the tourism landscape and discuss steps to tackle exorbitant price increases.
□ Once the venue is finalized, in order to allocate reservations more evenly, Busan will post recommended neighborhoods with good access to the concert hall and public transportation on its official social media channels.
□ Mayor Park Hyung-joon noted, “With the goal of welcoming five million inbound visitors soon, we will strive to ensure that people coming to Busan can create lasting memories and want to stay even longer in the city. I believe the QR overcharging reporting system and in-person co-inspection initiatives can contribute to addressing unreasonable accommodation services. We will rigorously evaluate our tourism readiness and mobilize all possible administrative resources to support the smooth and successful hosting of the event.”
