Observed on the fifteenth day of the eighth lunar month, Chuseok, also known as Hangawi, is a major holiday in Korea, along with Seollal (Lunar New Year’s Day). It is a time of joy and family gatherings, marking the largest full moon of the year.
In 2025, Chuseok falls on Monday, October 6. The Chuseok holiday spans October 5–7 and overlaps with Sunday, so Wednesday, October 8, will be observed as a substitute holiday. This results in a seven-day golden holiday, starting with National Foundation Day on Friday, October 3, continuing through Saturday and the Chuseok holiday, and ending with Hangul Day on Thursday, October 9.
