The city of Busan has announced that the documentary series ‘The Palate of the City: Busan’, which portrays the delicious foods of Busan from a foreigner’s point of view, will air in 19 Asian countries through TV, OTT (over the top) platforms, and YouTube.


Produced in collaboration with the global television network History, the program consists of four episodes* on the foods of Busan from a foreign host’s perspective. The program takes a close look at the diverse history of Busan’s delicious foods and true9 life stories of various people.


* EP 1. Seafood (theme: Family of Busan), EP 2. Street food (theme: Affection for Busan), EP 3. Fine dining (theme: Challenge Spirit of Busan), EP 4. Desserts & coffee (theme: Pride of Busan)


Each episode lasts 25 minutes and delivers a fascinating portrayal of the great dishes (delicacies) of Busan through the vividness of people and locations and variety of foods, including Korean street toast, spicy glass noodles, seafood, sliced raw sea eel, Korean beef, desserts, and coffee. The program is slated to be broadcast in 19 Asian countries, including Taiwan, Japan, the Philippines, and Indonesia through The History Channel, TVING, Apple TV, and Hulu from November 4 to mid-December.


* Broadcasting schedule in Korea (History Channel): 19:00 on November 4 – EP 1 and EP 2, and 19:00 on November 11 – EP 3 and EP 4.


A spokesperson from Busan explained, “Busan was recently selected as one of the 25 most breathtaking places and experiences for 2023 by National Geographic (U.S.), and Busan’s palate for coffee and beer has recently been in the spotlight.” He added, “This will be an opportunity to let the world know about the variety of tasty foods in Busan and help the city take off as a global destination for delicacies and tourism, comparable to other global cities known for their delicacies, as well as for people worldwide who are highly interested in Korean culture, such as K-content.”


The History Channel is a documentary channel owned by A&E Networks (headquartered in New York) and is a global factual entertainment brand with global networks in approximately 160 countries.
