Busan Tower and Busan Cinema Center to Turn Green for St. Patrick’s Day

Busan’s landmarks, the Busan Tower and Busan Cinema Center, will turn green for two hours on March 18 and March 19, starting at 7:00 p.m.
The Busan Tower and Busan Cinema Center will join the annual “Global Greening” event hosted by the Embassy of Ireland in Korea to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, which falls on Sunday, March 17 this year.
The annual “Global Greening” event is Tourism Ireland’s unique global campaign to see a host of major landmarks around the world turn green for St Patrick’s Day. The campaign has grown stronger and stronger each year, with lots of new landmarks signing up to take part this year.
Gwangandaegyo Bridge joined the event for the first time in 2017, along with approximately 190 other major landmarks around the world, including Sebitseom, Seoul; Colosseum, Rome, Italy; Leaning Tower of Pisa, Italy; the London Eye and Nelson’s Column, London, Great Britain and Christ the Redeemer statue, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The Busan Cinema Center, which went green last year, will be joined by the Busan Tower in this year’s event and will be promoted worldwide as Busan’s premier landmarks.
The Busan Tower at Yongdusan Park is one of the city’s night attractions with its citywide views from the observatory and media façade shows at night.
About 42,000 LED lights on the ‘Big Roof’ and ‘Small Roof’ of the Busan Cinema Center will be lit up with green colors again. The Busan Cinema Center’s ‘Big Roof’ is the largest cantilever roof in the world and is certified by the Guinness Book of World Records.
The Busan Cinema Center is the official venue for the Busan International Film Festival, one of the most significant film festivals in Asia since its opening in 2011 and is also famous for its artistic architectural design.
