The City of Busan and the Busan Foundation for International Cooperation (BFIC) will execute the Official Development Assistance (ODA) International Training Program from November 18 to 25th, along with the Busan Transportation Corporation and the Korea Maritime Institute.
The city
invited 18 delegation from the city’s three sister cities in Asia – Cebu in the
Philippines, Ho Chi Minh in Vietnam and Yangon in Myanmar, as well as Busan’s
new cooperation partner city, Guayaquil in Ecuador. The training program
features on-site visits and education programs on the maritime, fishery and
public transportation sectors.
The transportation
training group includes a lecture and case study about the state of Busan’s
metro, automatic fare collection system, construction and electric train
management, and visits to Sasang-Hadan metro line construction site and rail
yard, while the maritime and fishery training group will have a lecture about
the state of the maritime and port industries in Busan and Korea, marine
product processing, marine resource management, and a visit to the Marine
Environment Research & Training Institute and National Institute of
Fisheries Science.
In
addition, the visiting delegations will participate in the ODA forum hosted by
BFIC on November 21, 2018 at BEXCO. The subject of the ODA forum is ‘The ODA
activation plan for marine capital of Northeast Asia, Busan and local
governments’.
The City of
Busan is expecting it to be an opportunity to enhance the city’s urban
diplomacy through sharing know-how of its outstanding policies and technologies
to assist in the development of participating cities.
