Busan’s
leading annual fall festivals - the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF)
from Oct. 12-21, Busan One Asia Festival from Oct. 22-31 and Busan Fireworks
Festival in Oct 28 – have all been successfully concluded.
A
total of 192,991 people participated in this year’s BIFF, a rise of about 17 percent
from last year’s 165,149. The Asia Film Market 2017 also successfully completed
its 4-day journey in the presence of great film industry professionals, with
the biggest number of meetings thus far. The event, VR (Virtual Reality) Cinema
at BIFF received the most attention.
BOF
2016 attracted about 259,000 people over a 23 day period. The 2017 festival
took place over 13 days, but increased its number of programs. As a result,
260,000 people, including about 30,000 foreign visitors, enjoyed the
festival.
The
BOF is hosted by the Busan Metropolitan City Government and run by the Busan
Tourism Organization. It is a blend of Busan-based cultural and tourism
infrastructure, Hallyu content (K-pop, K-food and K-beauty) and Asian culture.
The night sky above Gwangalli Beach was filled with fantastic fireworks on October 28. Domestic and overseas spectators enjoyed the 13th Busan Fireworks Festival from many vantage points, not only Gwangalli Beach, but also Igidae Park, Marine City in Haeundae and Hwangnyeongsan Mountain.
