Busan Museum of Art Announces Open Call for Artists for “Vision and Perspective 2027”

내용

The Busan Museum of Art (hereinafter referred to as the museum) is inviting applications from artists for “Vision and Perspective 2027” to explore new possibilities for the local art scene and discover talented young artists.

“Vision and Perspective” is a regular exhibition series that the museum has continuously organized to discover and foster emerging local artists.

Since its inception in 1999, the exhibition has featured 84 local artists across 17 editions, establishing itself as an important platform for young artists to enter the local art scene and expand their artistic capabilities.

Since 2025, the museum has introduced an open-call selection process and strengthened its evaluation procedures with the participation of domestic and international experts, allowing for an in-depth assessment of applicants' artistic capabilities and potential for future growth.

The open call covers all fields of visual arts and is open to artists aged 20 to 40 who were born in Busan, currently reside in Busan, or have moved away from Busan. The selection process will consist of two stages: a review of application documents and portfolios, followed by interviews. Up to eight artists or teams are expected to be selected.

Through this open call, the museum aims to discover artists who are developing their own distinctive artistic language through diverse media and forms of expression. It particularly welcomes applications from artists who approach contemporary society and art from fresh perspectives and continue to pursue experimental and original artistic practices.

Selected artists will have the opportunity to participate in “Vision and Perspective 2027,” scheduled to open in April 2027. Following the exhibition, the museum plans to provide continued opportunities for artistic growth over a period of two to three years, including overseas exhibitions and support for domestic and international networking.

Applications will be accepted from October 31 to November 22. Application guidelines and detailed schedules are available on the museum's official website at https://art.busan.go.kr. For inquiries, applicants may contact the Curatorial Research Office of the Busan Museum of Art at 051-740-4243.

Seo Jin-seok, Director of the Busan Museum of Art, stated, “Vision and Perspective is an important exhibition that supports young artists in exploring new artistic possibilities and shaping new directions in the local art scene. Through this open call, we look forward to discovering artists with original perspectives and strong potential. We encourage young artists who will shape the future of the local art scene to take an active interest and participate in this opportunity.”
