Busan Metropolitan City Launches Dedicated Disaster Situation Room Response System Today, Advancing into the Future with AI

Busan Metropolitan City, led by Mayor Chun Jae-soo, announced that it will begin full operation of a dedicated response system centered on the Disaster Situation Room starting today, September 1.

With the abolition of the routine standby duty system, employees will be able to focus more fully on their primary responsibilities and handling public inquiries.

Mayor Chun Jae-soo will personally visit the duty office and the Disaster Situation Room this morning, September 1, to thank staff for their dedicated service.

During the visit, Mayor Chun is expected to say, “Busan has become the safe city it is today thanks to the dedication of employees who have quietly worked day and night to safeguard the city.” He will also ask the Disaster Situation Room “to fulfill its mission as the control tower for public safety and ensure thorough, uninterrupted disaster response.”

Busan Metropolitan City will go beyond abolishing the duty system by introducing an AI voicebot to assist with receiving public inquiries at night and on holidays, with a pilot operation planned for the first half of next year and full implementation targeted for the second half.

Through this initiative, the city plans to establish a seamless 24-hour smart disaster and administrative response system and lead forward-looking innovation in municipal administration.
