Busan Metropolitan City to Host the “2026 Medical Korea Business Fair”

Busan Metropolitan City, led by Mayor Chun Jae-soo, announced that it will host the “2026 Medical Korea Business Fair” at Grand Josun Busan from August 26 to 27.

The event has been organized to widely promote the excellence of regional medical services and strengthen the foundation for attracting foreign patients. Hosted and organized by the Korea Health Industry Development Institute, the event will be jointly held by Busan, Daegu, Gwangju, and Jeju, which were selected through an open call conducted by the institute.

This year’s event, being held in Busan for the first time in 2026, will invite 16 overseas buyers from 10 countries, including Thailand, China, the United States, and Mongolia.

On August 26, one-on-one business consultations will be held with the participation of 41 medical institutions and patient attraction agencies in Busan. Memorandums of Understanding will also be signed to establish new channels for attracting foreign patients.

On August 27, participants will take part in a familiarization tour of two major medical institutions in Busan to visit and view their medical facilities.

Ahead of the event, the “Busan Foreign Patient Attraction Institutions Roundtable” will be held at Grand Josun Busan at 4:30 p.m. on August 25 in cooperation with the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Korea Health Industry Development Institute.

The roundtable has been arranged to enable the Ministry of Health and Welfare to hear firsthand opinions from foreign patient attraction institutions in Busan and other relevant organizations as it develops policies to revitalize regional initiatives for attracting foreign patients.

Approximately 30 participants, including representatives of leading partner medical institutions and patient attraction agencies, will attend the roundtable to discuss policy improvements and cooperation measures for revitalizing efforts to attract foreign patients to Busan.

The Ministry of Health and Welfare plans to use the on-site feedback gathered at the roundtable in formulating the Third Comprehensive Plan for Supporting Overseas Expansion of Korean Healthcare and Attraction of Foreign Patients for 2027–2031.

Busan Metropolitan City expects the event to further promote the excellence of Busan’s medical tourism to the world and strengthen the foundation for attracting more foreign patients in the future.

Na Yun-bin, Director-General of the Tourism and MICE Bureau, said, “We will actively support the 2026 Medical Korea Business Fair so that it leads to tangible results in attracting patients. We will also maintain close communication with central government ministries and relevant organizations to ensure that voices from the field are actively reflected in policy.”
