Busan Metropolitan City and Korea Anti-Doping Agency to Host “Global Anti-Doping Camp”

Busan Metropolitan City, led by Mayor Chun Jae-soo, will host the “2026 Global Anti-Doping Youth Camp” at the Daeyeon Campus of Pukyong National University from today, August 19, through August 22.

The camp is being jointly organized with the Korea Anti-Doping Agency (KADA) to carry forward the significance of the “Busan Declaration,” adopted at the 2025 World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) World Conference.

Around 60 youth athletes from Busan and countries across Asia will participate, gaining a deeper understanding of fairness and integrity in sport while engaging in international and cultural exchange.

The camp will feature a diverse range of programs, including experiential anti-doping education, team projects, and an athlete committee talk concert, providing a forum where participants can approach the topic of doping in an accessible and engaging way.

During the team projects, participants will discuss ethical dilemmas that athletes may encounter in real-world settings, such as receiving cold medicine from a teammate when no team doctor is present or being given a nutritional supplement without checking its ingredients.

At the athlete committee talk concert, four athlete committee members from the World Anti-Doping Agency and the Korea Anti-Doping Agency will share their experiences and examples of ethical practice under the theme “Athletes’ Choices and the Value of Clean Sport.”

On August 22, the final day of the camp, a launch ceremony for the “Clean Sport Supporters” will be held during the closing ceremony. All youth athletes participating in the camp will be appointed as supporters and are expected to play a leading role in promoting the values of fairness in sport in their respective countries and local communities.

Nam Jeong-eun, Director General of the Sports Bureau of Busan Metropolitan City, said, “We hope this camp will go beyond simply communicating rules and serve as a meaningful opportunity for student-athletes to protect their health and deeply embrace sound sports ethics and the spirit of fair play.”
