Busan Metropolitan City Holds Photo Contest on “Practicing Petiquette with Our Companion Animals”

Busan Metropolitan City, led by Mayor Chun Jae-soo, will hold the “2026 Busan Metropolitan City Companion Animal Photo Contest” to promote a responsible companion animal culture practiced by both companion animals and their guardians.

The contest has been organized amid the growing number of people raising companion animals to help reduce social conflict between pet owners and non-pet owners, while also raising awareness of animal registration and proper pet etiquette.

The theme of the contest is “Practicing Petiquette with Our Companion Animals: Our Consideration Brings Happiness to Everyone.” Participants should submit a photograph of themselves with their companion animal demonstrating proper pet etiquette.

The contest is open to Busan citizens who raise companion animals. Anyone who owns a companion animal that has completed animal registration may participate, with entries limited to one photograph per animal registration certificate.

Applications will be accepted from 9:00 a.m. on August 24 through 6:00 p.m. on September 7. Applicants should download the required forms from the Notices and Announcements section of the Busan Metropolitan City website at www.busan.go.kr/nbgosi and submit the application documents and photograph by email to kayeon1026@korea.kr.

A total of 17 winning entries will be selected in September following evaluation. The awards ceremony and exhibition will be held on October 3 in conjunction with the 2026 With Pet Star event, which will take place from October 3 to 4 at the Lawn Plaza of Hwamyeong Ecological Park, in front of Gamdongjin Ferry Landing.

A total of KRW 2.7 million in prize money will be awarded: KRW 600,000 for one Grand Prize winner, KRW 400,000 for one Gold Prize winner, KRW 300,000 each for two Silver Prize winners, KRW 200,000 each for three Bronze Prize winners, and KRW 50,000 each for ten Merit Prize winners.

Applicants should carefully review the contest guidelines, as a winning selection may be revoked if the winner cannot be contacted after selection or does not attend the awards ceremony.
