Traffic Control for Guidance Light Installation in Jangsan Tunnels 1 and 2

Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Chun Jae-soo) announced that, due to guidance light installation work in Jangsan Tunnels 1 and 2, traffic will be partially restricted in sections of the tunnels around Jangsan Tunnel in Haeundae-gu from today, August 18, through August 31.

Guidance lights installed inside tunnels are lighting facilities designed to help drivers and pedestrians easily identify their current location and the distance to tunnel entrances and exits. Through this project, Busan Metropolitan City plans to facilitate rapid evacuation in emergencies and enhance the safety of tunnel users.

To avoid traffic congestion during commuting hours and other busy periods, traffic control will be implemented from 22:00 on each control date until 05:00 the following day. All restrictions are scheduled to be fully lifted at 05:00 on August 31.

During the traffic control period, one of the three lanes in each direction in Jangsan Tunnels 1 and 2, specifically Lane 1, will be closed, while the remaining two lanes will remain open to traffic to minimize inconvenience to the public.

Baek Myeong-gi, Director General of the Urban Planning Bureau, said, “The goal of this project is to provide a safer traffic environment for drivers using the tunnels,” adding, “We ask for the public’s active cooperation and understanding during the traffic control period.”
