Busan Metropolitan City Women’s Culture Center Signs Agreement with the Busan Venture Business Association to Support Women’s Employment and Entrepreneurship

Busan Metropolitan City Women’s Culture Center announced that it will sign a “Memorandum of Understanding to Promote Support for Women’s Employment and Entrepreneurship in High-Value-Added Fields” with the Busan Venture Business Association, chaired by Jeong Hyeon-don, at 10:30 a.m. today, August 13, at Shilla Stay Seobusan.

The agreement is intended to create jobs for women by reflecting the needs of industrial workplaces in the Busan region and fostering cooperation in the development and dissemination of high-value-added vocational training programs.

The signing ceremony will be attended by Kim Jeong-hwa, Director of the Busan Metropolitan City Women’s Culture Center and the Busan Metropolitan Women’s New Work Center, and Jeong Hyeon-don, Chair of the Busan Venture Business Association and CEO of City Cop Co., Ltd.

The agreement was arranged to establish a cooperative framework between the two organizations to help address workforce shortages at local companies while supporting stable employment and entrepreneurship opportunities for women. It is also expected to contribute to revitalizing the regional economy and nurturing female talent in high-value-added fields.

Following the signing ceremony, an industry-academia-research-government Employment Council meeting will be held to discuss measures to promote women’s employment and entrepreneurship in high-value-added fields.

The initiative aims to promote women’s employment and entrepreneurship in high-value-added sectors through customized vocational education and training tailored to the needs of local industries, while identifying outstanding talent in the region.

Participants in the industry-academia-research-government council will represent six organizations, including Cheon Dong-pil, Dean of the Graduate School of Management of Technology at Pukyong National University; Lim Jun-woo, Head of the Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation at Kyungnam College of Information & Technology; Jang Gi-yeol, Head of the Employment Innovation Office at Busan Women’s University; and Woo Sae-mi, Principal Researcher at the Busan Institute of Science and Technology Promotion (BISTEP).

In addition, directors of the Sasang, Dong, and Saha Women’s New Work Centers, which support women’s entrepreneurship and employment in the region, will take part in discussions aimed at creating more jobs for women.

Jeong Hyeon-don, Chair of the Busan Venture Business Association, said, “This agreement represents concrete, action-oriented cooperation that connects Busan’s venture ecosystem with job creation for women. We will link the Women’s Culture Center’s talent discovery and vocational training with our association’s employment and entrepreneurship capacity-building programs, while establishing a system that connects the actual hiring needs of our member companies with customized workforce development.”

Kim Jeong-hwa, Director of the Busan Metropolitan City Women’s Culture Center, said, “Through this agreement and the industry-academia-research-government Employment Council, we will support women returning to the workforce in pursuing employment and entrepreneurship by developing customized vocational education and training programs. We will also do our utmost to support women’s employment and entrepreneurship in high-value-added fields so that not only women returning to the workforce, but also female graduates preparing for employment in relevant fields, can enter promising industries such as maritime, artificial intelligence, and biotechnology.”
