Busan Metropolitan City Opens AI·SW Maestro Busan Center, a Hub for Future AI·SW Innovators

Busan Metropolitan City, led by Mayor Chun Jae-soo, announced that the opening ceremony for the AI·SW Maestro Busan Center, a hub for developing advanced information and communications technology (ICT) professionals who will drive innovation in the regional digital industry, will be held today, August 12, at 3:00 p.m.

Approximately 160 people, including representatives from Busan Metropolitan City, the Ministry of Science and ICT, the Institute for Information & Communications Technology Planning & Evaluation (IITP), the Federation of Korean Information Industries (FKII), and students, will attend the opening ceremony to celebrate the launch of the Busan Center and wish it every success.

The AI·SW Maestro Busan Center is the second center of its kind to open nationwide, following Seoul. It is a leading regional AI talent development platform that identifies outstanding talent in artificial intelligence (AI) and software (SW) and provides project-based advanced training and practical training in partnership with companies.

The Busan Center will operate as a specialized training and innovation space for cultivating top-tier professionals with integrated AI and software expertise who can immediately apply their capabilities in real-world settings.

Industry experts and technical mentors will carry out projects together with trainees through hands-on, project-based mentoring and share their practical expertise. The center will also provide a research and development environment equipped with high-performance AI computing infrastructure, testing equipment, and collaborative workspaces.

In addition, the center will offer employment support and technology startup programs in partnership with leading local AI and IT companies. It will also support the commercialization of outstanding projects and business creation, contributing to the revitalization of the regional digital industry ecosystem.

Busan Metropolitan City plans to accelerate the development of a regional digital innovation ecosystem centered on the AI·SW Maestro Busan Center.

The city aims to train approximately 150 AI and software professionals each year to meet the workforce needs of local IT companies, while also establishing a foundation for attracting promising companies from outside the region.

It also plans to create a virtuous cycle in which young people can learn, find employment or start businesses in Busan, and settle in the region, while further strengthening a phased talent development system ranging from entry-level training to the cultivation of top-tier AI specialists.

Kim Dong-hyun, Director General of the Future Technology Strategy Bureau, said, “AI·SW Maestro will provide an important foundation for cultivating the core professionals who will lead Busan’s digital future. We will continue to make every effort to support young people in the region so that they can grow into globally competitive AI and software professionals.”
