Busan Metropolitan City to Conduct the 2025 Busan Environmental Industry Survey

Busan Metropolitan City, led by Mayor Chun Jae-soo, will conduct the 2025 Busan Environmental Industry Survey from today, August 12, through September 2.

The Busan Environmental Industry Survey is conducted to identify the scale and characteristics of economic activity in the environmental industry, one of the city’s key industries, and to use the findings as supporting data for formulating, evaluating, and analyzing related policies and securing national government funding.

First conducted as national statistics in 2021, the survey is now in its sixth year.

The survey covers approximately 9,000 businesses located in Busan as of December 31, 2025, that are engaged in environmental industry activities or have at least one employee engaged in such activities.

The survey consists of 44 items, including company name, number of employees, sales and exports, investment, and policy needs. The results are scheduled to be released in December this year.

The information collected will be used solely for statistical purposes and will be strictly protected in accordance with Article 33, Protection of Confidentiality, of the Statistics Act.

For this survey, 135 statistical survey enumerators hired by the city will visit businesses in person to conduct face-to-face interviews.

Businesses that prefer a non-face-to-face survey may also participate online, by email, fax, or telephone.

Participation IDs will be provided by survey enumerators after their visit.

Kim Dong-hyun, Director General of the Future Technology Strategy Bureau, said, “The Environmental Industry Survey provides important statistics used to understand the structure and business conditions of the environmental industry and to formulate and evaluate Busan’s environmental industry and technology policies.”

He added, “We ask the businesses selected for the survey for their active participation and accurate responses to ensure reliable statistics.”
