Busan Metropolitan City Holds Third Employee Blood Donation Day of 2026

Busan Metropolitan City, led by Mayor Chun Jae-soo, announced that it will hold its third group blood donation event for employees this year today (August 7) to help address seasonal blood shortages during the summer.

The event will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. aboard three blood donation buses stationed along the road between Busan City Hall and the Busan Metropolitan Police Agency.

Public officials, including employees of Busan City Hall, the Busan Metropolitan Council, and the Busan Metropolitan Police Agency, as well as any members of the public wishing to donate blood, may freely participate on-site.

The group blood donation event has been organized to help stabilize the blood supply during the summer, when blood supplies tend to become unstable, by encouraging public officials to lead by example and to promote a culture of sharing life through blood donation.

As blood donations tend to decline during the summer due to hot weather, vacations, and school breaks, sustained interest and participation from both the public sector and the general public are particularly important to maintaining a stable blood supply.

Busan Metropolitan City plans to increase the number of employee group blood donation events from four per year to five in 2026 to encourage greater participation in blood donation across the public sector.

This third event follows those held in February and June. The fourth and fifth Employee Blood Donation Days are scheduled for October 7 and December 4, respectively.

In particular, a total of 167 people, including employees of Busan City Hall and the Busan Metropolitan Police Agency as well as members of the public, participated in the second Employee Blood Donation Day, which was held on June 12 in conjunction with a ceremony commemorating Blood Donor Day.

Residents wishing to donate blood individually can first complete an advance electronic health questionnaire to check their eligibility and then make a reservation for their preferred location, time, and type of donation for greater convenience.
