Busan Metropolitan City Opens Applications for 2026 Preliminary Social Enterprise Designation

Busan Metropolitan City, led by Mayor Chun Jae-soo, announced that it will accept applications for the 2026 Preliminary Social Enterprise Designation from August 14 to September 4.

Each year, Busan Metropolitan City designates regional preliminary social enterprises to identify and foster businesses that pursue social objectives, such as providing jobs and social services to vulnerable groups or contributing to local communities, while maintaining sustainable business models.

Enterprises designated as preliminary social enterprises may participate in various support programs, including consulting to help them meet the Ministry of Employment and Labor’s certification requirements for social enterprises, preferential procurement by public institutions, market access support, and financial assistance.

Enterprises seeking preliminary social enterprise designation may apply through the Social Enterprise Portal at https://www.seis.or.kr to the social enterprise division of the district or county with jurisdiction over their location.

Busan Metropolitan City will review documents and conduct on-site inspections from September through October. Following an expert evaluation and deliberation by the Social Enterprise Promotion Committee in October, the final designation results will be announced on the Busan Metropolitan City website in early November.

Through this call for applications, Busan Metropolitan City expects participation from innovative local enterprises in a wide range of fields, including welfare, the environment, culture, and regional development, that contribute to solving social issues and revitalizing the local economy while pursuing both social value and business growth.

Busan Metropolitan City will also hold an information session for prospective applicants at 4:00 p.m. on August 13 at Social Campus On Busan, located on the sixth floor of 688 Suyeong-ro, Suyeong-gu.

The session will provide information on the requirements and evaluation criteria for preliminary social enterprise designation, guidance on completing application forms, and instructions for applying through the Social Enterprise Portal.
