14th Korea International Marine Leisure Week to Take Place

Busan Metropolitan City, led by Mayor Chun Jae-soo, announced that the 14th Korea International Marine Leisure Week, or KIMA WEEK 2026, will take place from today, July 30, through August 2 at Dadaepo Beach and other locations.

Since 2013, the city has held the event annually at major beaches across Busan to expand marine leisure culture and foster the development of related industries.

This year’s event is hosted by Busan Metropolitan City and the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries and organized by the Korea Marine Leisure Network.

Following last year’s event, this year’s program will again center on Dadaepo Beach to promote marine leisure tourism in western Busan. Major programs include an opening ceremony and cultural performances, KIMA BEACH, and marine leisure activities and competitions.

The opening ceremony will be held today, July 30, at 7:30 p.m. on a special stage at Dadaepo Beach.

A special cultural performance titled “KIMA WEEK 2026 Dadaepo Beach Concert” will also be presented, combining music and performances against the backdrop of Dadaepo’s sunset and sea.

The KIMA BEACH program will operate at Dadaepo Beach throughout the event. Visitors can enjoy a wide range of attractions, including hands-on activity booths, beach cinema screenings, indie band performances, beach yoga, and stand-up paddleboarding.

Beach cinema screenings will begin at 8:00 p.m. each evening from July 31 to August 2, featuring films including Robot Dreams. Indie band performances will take place from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. from July 31 to August 2, while beach yoga sessions will run from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on July 31 and August 1.

The “Sea-Zoning Out” experience, which allows participants to relax and meditate on the sea while riding a stand-up paddleboard, will be offered from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on August 1 and 2.

A variety of marine leisure activities will also be available through September 30, including surfing at Songjeong and Dadaepo, yacht tours and jet boat rides at Gwangalli, cruise tours on the Suyeong River, and boat tours around Dongbaekseom Island.

Advance reservations must be made through the HolicJam mobile app on a first-come, first-served basis. Participation limits and out-of-pocket fees may apply depending on the program.

The 2026 KIMA WEEK National Beach Rowing Competition and Busan Rowing Association President’s Cup National Beach Rowing Competition will also be held on August 1 and 2.

Approximately 200 registered athletes from teams affiliated with the Korean Rowing Association will participate. The competition will feature a total of 27 events, comprising nine beach rowing events and 18 indoor rowing events.

Additional marine industry development programs will follow, including a marine leisure tourism academic conference and an idea competition in September, as well as a National Assembly policy forum in November.
