Start Your First Art Collection with Just KRW 100,000! Youth Art Fair Opens

Busan Metropolitan City, led by Mayor Chun Jae-soo, and the Busan Cultural Foundation announced that the 2026 Youth Art Fair <UNDER 39> will be held for 13 days, from August 4 to 16, at the central atrium of Shinsegae Department Store Centum City in Haeundae.

The Youth Art Fair <UNDER 39> is part of Busan Metropolitan City’s Youth Culture Development Support Program, specifically its corporate-partnership support initiative for creative activities. The event exhibits works by local visual artists aged 39 or younger who are expected to lead the regional art scene and supports the sale of their works.

Launched in 2016 and now marking its 11th edition in 2026, the event was designed to provide young artists with a sustainable creative environment while offering residents fresh visual experiences in their daily lives.

The opening ceremony will take place at 2:00 p.m. on August 7 at the central atrium of Shinsegae Department Store Centum City. The exhibition will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with extended hours until 8:30 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Admission is free and open to all.

This year’s event will feature 30 young artists selected through an open call, presenting 484 works across a variety of genres, including painting and sculpture.

Organized as an art fair where works are exhibited and sold simultaneously, the event will allow visitors to explore paintings, sculptures, and works in other genres in one place. Visitors will also be able to view the young artists’ experimental works in person and purchase them on site.

To make art ownership accessible to everyone, the event will feature “UNDER 100,000,” a special zone consisting of works priced at KRW 100,000 or less. The zone is intended to lower the barrier for residents purchasing artwork for the first time.

A diverse selection of accompanying programs has also been prepared. On the opening day, the program will begin with a virtual reality art performance by artist Yeom Dong-gyun, followed by docent tours led by professional guides, an ART PRINT printmaking experience, and mentoring sessions with participating artists.

Mayor Chun Jae-soo said, “The Youth Art Fair <UNDER 39> is a valuable platform where young local artists can present their work to residents and collectors and continue developing their careers.”

“I hope this event will help young artists discover new possibilities and allow residents to enjoy art more closely in their everyday lives. Busan Metropolitan City will continue providing strong support to create a stable environment in which young artists can pursue their creative work,” he added.
