Busan Metropolitan City Opens a Special Summer at North Port with the 2026 North Port Ocean SUP FESTA!

Busan Metropolitan City, led by Mayor Chun Jae-soo, announced that it will host the 2026 North Port Ocean SUP FESTA for 10 days from July 31 to August 9 at North Port Waterfront Park and the Landmark Site.

Now in its second year, the festival was created to transform the waterfront space in the North Port redevelopment area into an open marine cultural venue that everyone can enjoy, while bringing renewed vitality to the historic downtown and local commercial districts during the summer vacation season.

This year’s program has been significantly expanded to commemorate the relocation of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries to Busan and the 150th anniversary of the opening of Busan Port. Public agencies and private organizations—including Busan Metropolitan City, the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, Jung-gu, Dong-gu, the Busan Port Authority (BPA), the Busan Meditation Association, and the Busan Cinema Center—will participate in presenting North Port’s signature summer festival, combining marine leisure activities with arts and culture.

The festival will operate daily from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and will consist of three themed areas: the Marine Leisure Experience Zone, the Healing Culture and Performance Zone, and the Food, Exhibition and Market Zone.

In the Marine Leisure Experience Zone, the festival’s signature stand-up paddleboarding experience will be offered along the scenic waterway in North Port Waterfront Park. A new Kids SUP Pool, a dedicated inflatable pool where children can safely experience paddleboarding, will also be introduced this year. In addition, Jung-gu will offer moon boat and UFO boat rides, while Dong-gu will provide water bicycle and kayak experiences, allowing visitors to enjoy a wide range of marine leisure activities against the backdrop of North Port’s beautiful sunsets and night views.

The Healing Culture and Performance Zone will present a variety of programs designed to capture the atmosphere of midsummer evenings. A Sunset Picnic Zone and DJ Music Box will operate at the Landmark Site, which will also host Night at North Port, featuring performances by indie bands as well as fusion traditional Korean music and jazz artists. At the stepped plaza near the entrance to the waterfront park, the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries will present Starlight Busking performances to further enhance the festive atmosphere.

On August 1 and 8, Luminous Run, a nighttime running program, will take place throughout the waterfront park, while the HeumSUP Show, a refreshing water-themed performance, will be staged on the lawn plaza, adding excitement to the summer evenings. On August 1, the Busan Meditation Association will lead an interactive healing meditation program for the public. On August 7, North Port Open Cinema will be presented as a special program, screening the film Once against the backdrop of North Port’s nighttime scenery.

The Food, Exhibition and Market Zone will feature gourmet food trucks and a flea market at the Landmark Site. A variety of hands-on programs jointly prepared by Busan Metropolitan City and the Busan Port Authority will also be available, including keyring and keycap making, games, and photo zones. A large Boogi installation will be placed in the scenic waterway, offering visitors a new attraction that complements North Port’s beautiful nighttime views.

The opening ceremony will be held at 6:00 p.m. on August 1 at the lawn plaza in North Port Waterfront Park.

Following the opening ceremony, singer and actor Lee Seung-gi will give a celebratory performance. The event is expected to provide an opportunity for residents and visitors to enjoy the beginning of the festival together.
