Sharing the Cool Sweetness of Watermelons on a Hot Summer Day: Eomgung Agricultural Produce Wholesale Market to Hold Watermelon-Sharing Event for Neighbors in Need

Busan Metropolitan City’s Eomgung Agricultural Produce Wholesale Market Management Office announced that it will hold the “2026 Watermelon-Sharing Event for a Cool Summer” at 10:00 a.m. tomorrow, July 24, in the second-floor conference room of the Management Office. The event, organized in cooperation with distributors operating within the wholesale market, will support underserved members of the local community during Jungbok, one of the hottest days of summer.

The event is hosted by the Management Office and made possible through donations from distributors at the wholesale market, including the NongHyup Busan Auction Market, Busan Cheonggwa, Hangdo Cheonggwa, the Radish and Chinese Cabbage Settlement Association, the Seasoning Produce Settlement Association, the Fruit and Vegetable Direct Sales Market, and the General Food Shopping Complex.

First launched in 2016, the event is being held for the 11th time this year. Reflecting the wholesale market’s specialized expertise, carefully selected fresh, high-quality watermelons will be delivered to 360 locations, including senior centers and children’s centers, through the Saemaul Women’s Associations of Sasang-gu and Saha-gu, the Sasang-gu Association of Community Child Centers, and the Sisters of Mary in Seo-gu.

The donated watermelons, carrying the warmth and goodwill of the wholesale market’s distributors, will be delivered to senior centers, children’s centers, and welfare facilities throughout the community. They are expected to help older adults and children who are particularly vulnerable to extreme heat stay cool and healthy during the summer.

The Eomgung Agricultural Produce Wholesale Market will continue working to provide residents with a reliable supply of safe, high-quality agricultural products. It also plans to actively promote events that share locally grown produce with underserved neighbors facing hardship.
