Busan Metropolitan Library Offers Diverse Reading and Cultural Programs for Children During Summer Vacation

Busan Metropolitan Library announced that it will offer a variety of reading and cultural programs and hands-on activities where children can learn and have fun with books during summer vacation.

Centered on reading and combined with play and experiential activities, the programs are designed to help children naturally become familiar with books while developing their creativity and imagination.

The Children’s Summer Vacation Library Playground is a vacation program combining reading with hands-on activities. It will run from July 25 to August 29 at Creative World in the Kkumtteurak Children’s Room of Busan Metropolitan Library.

The program consists of three courses: the curriculum-linked EBS Textbook Reading Summer Camp for Elementary School Students and two summer vacation special lectures, Stories of the Kings of the Joseon Dynasty Told Through Film and Abracadabra, Into the World of Picture Books!

In particular, the EBS Textbook Reading Summer Camp for Elementary School Students is designed to develop learning skills and problem-solving abilities through curriculum-linked reading. The summer vacation special lectures will help children engage with books more easily and enjoyably through reading activities centered on history and picture books.

In August, the library will also operate the Deullak Nallak Creative Learning Center to foster children’s creative thinking and imagination.

Using a play-based learning approach, the program will allow children to take part in interdisciplinary activities combining art and the ocean while engaging in a range of creative and exploratory experiences.

The Immersive Storybook Experience, which has continued to receive an enthusiastic response from children, will also be expanded during the summer vacation months of July and August.

Previously offered only on Saturdays, the program will now be available on both Saturdays and Sundays, giving preschoolers and children greater opportunities to participate.

The program is open to children aged five to eight and uses an immersive format that combines digital content with storybooks. Participants become the main characters in the stories and experience them through all five senses, naturally developing an interest in reading.
