Busan Metropolitan City Meets with the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Korea, Looking Forward to Expanding Exchanges Across Diverse Sectors and Cooperation on the Havel Project

Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Chun Jae-soo) announced that today (July 21) at 2:00 p.m., the Life Sharing Practice Busan Regional Headquarters, a leading local organization dedicated to promoting respect for life, will hold its 20th Anniversary Celebration and Vision Declaration Ceremony at Hongbeopsa Temple in Geumjeong-gu.

Held under the theme, “20 Years of Sharing Life: Let Life Bloom,” the event has been organized to reflect on the organization's 20-year journey since its establishment in 2006 in promoting respect for life throughout the region and to reaffirm its commitment to a new chapter of future growth.

The event will be attended by Mayor Chun Jae-soo, distinguished representatives from government and the business community, the Chair of the Life Sharing Practice Busan Regional Headquarters, Buddhist leaders, volunteers, and approximately 400 guests.

During the event, Busan Metropolitan City will present awards from the Minister of Health and Welfare and the Mayor to three individuals who have made outstanding contributions to promoting organ and human tissue donation and fostering a culture of respect for life.

The program will begin with a commemorative Buddhist service celebrating the achievements of the past 20 years, followed by an awards ceremony honoring individuals who have contributed to organ donor registration and the promotion of a culture of respect for life, as well as a Vision Declaration Ceremony presenting the organization's future direction.

Over the past 20 years, the Life Sharing Practice Busan Regional Headquarters has continuously carried out major initiatives promoting respect for life, including organ donation registration, hematopoietic stem cell donor registration, advance directives for life-sustaining treatment, support for patients with incurable diseases, and suicide prevention campaigns. Through these sustained efforts, the organization has delivered hope to underserved members of the community and has played a leading role in strengthening the region's social safety net.

Meanwhile, Busan Metropolitan City continues to support donor registration campaigns and a variety of initiatives designed to promote life sharing in order to further expand organ and human tissue donation throughout the region.

In addition, the City is implementing various policies to recognize and support donors, including operating discount programs for public facilities managed by district and county governments.

Mayor Chun Jae-soo is expected to say, “The noble courage and selfless act of one individual can become a miracle that offers someone else a new chance at life.
