Jeonggwan Museum to Hold “Hello, My Guardian Bird,” a Summer Vacation Family Education Program

Jeonggwan Museum, part of the Busan Museum, announced that it will operate the 2026 Summer Vacation Family Education Program, “Summer Vacation Family Museum Outing – Hello, My Guardian Bird,” from July 23 to 26 for families with children aged 7 to 13.

The program centers on the museum’s bird-shaped pottery artifact, introducing participants to the various meanings and symbolism that ancient people associated with birds in an engaging and accessible way. Families will also take part in a hands-on activity to create a bird-shaped acrylic suncatcher doorbell that symbolizes happiness and good fortune for their own family.

A suncatcher is a decorative ornament that reflects and refracts sunlight to create patterns of light indoors.

The program begins with an exploration of how ancient people viewed birds, followed by an introduction to the symbolism and meanings embedded in history through a variety of bird-related artifacts.

During the craft session, each family will create a one-of-a-kind bird-shaped acrylic suncatcher doorbell together, making a special keepsake while wishing for their family’s well-being and good fortune.

The program concludes with a visit to the permanent exhibition gallery, where participants will observe the actual bird-shaped pottery artifact and reinforce what they learned during the educational session.

The program will be offered on July 23, July 24, and July 26 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., for a total of three sessions.

Participation is open to families with children aged 7 to 13. A total of 45 families will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, with 15 families (two people per family) in each session.
