Support for the Operation of the 2026 Local Bookstore Reading Culture Program

Busan Library announced that it will support the operation of the 2026 Local Bookstore Reading Culture Program at 15 local bookstores from July through October, enabling citizens to enjoy cultural activities at bookstores in their neighborhoods.

The initiative is designed to help local bookstores grow into everyday cultural hubs for the community while encouraging broader participation in reading culture. Busan Library provides annual operational funding, and each participating bookstore independently plans and delivers cultural content that reflects its own unique identity.

This year, 15 bookstores will participate, offering programs on a wide range of themes—including literature, art, healing, and communication—from July through October.

Participating bookstores are:

(Gijang-gun) Chaekbang Memory Forest
(Nam-gu) Miu Seojae
Busanjin-gu) Creta, Ibagu Bookstore
(Buk-gu) Dog Poop Bookstore, Sappun Sappun Picture Bookstore, Musai
(Saha-gu) Munjang Bookstore
(Seo-gu) Dongju Bookstore
(Suyeong-gu) Dududi Books, Basacra
(Haeundae-gu) Dear Picture Bookstore, Neighborhood Bookstore Arke

Featured programs include “A Heartwarming Picture Book Journey with Author Oh Su-min,” “Reading Susan Sontag with a Literary Critic,” “Create Your Own Mini Book,” “Busan Writer Birth Project,” and “Painting Life into Art,” along with many other distinctive programs tailored to each bookstore.
