Busan Blockchain Companies Demonstrate Global Competitiveness on the European ICT Stage

Busan Metropolitan City, led by Mayor Chun Jae-soo, announced that nine outstanding blockchain companies from Busan participated in GITEX AI Europe 2026, held in Germany from June 30 to July 1, and achieved remarkable results in the global market.

GITEX AI Europe is one of Europe's leading information and communication technology (ICT) exhibitions, bringing together innovative companies, global investors, and buyers from around the world. Busan Metropolitan City, Daegu Metropolitan City, the Ministry of Science and ICT, and the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) jointly operated the Korea Pavilion to support Korean companies in developing overseas business opportunities.

Busan Metropolitan City and Busan Technopark provided comprehensive support to the nine blockchain companies selected as leading regional enterprises by promoting their technologies and services to the local market and offering assistance with exhibition operations, interpretation services, and buyer consultations, helping them attract investment and expand into overseas markets.

The participating companies were DeepBrain Co., Ltd., MarinaChain Co., Ltd., MyStarChain Co., Ltd., MediFun Co., Ltd., Seoul Labs Co., Ltd., Smart M2M Co., Ltd., iKUKA Co., Ltd., AI Platform Co., Ltd., and Eruty Co., Ltd.

In particular, Busan-based MarinaChain Co., Ltd. showcased its environmental regulatory compliance solution for the maritime logistics industry and achieved an outstanding third-place finish in the Supernova Challenge, a global startup investor relations (IR) competition, winning a cash prize of EUR 10,000.

More than 130 innovative companies from around the world participated in the Supernova Challenge. MarinaChain's achievement demonstrated the technological competitiveness and commercial viability of Busan companies in the global market and attracted strong interest from international investors.

During the exhibition, the participating Busan companies recorded USD 3.946 million in investment consultations, USD 25.397 million in export and sales consultations, and signed 16 memoranda of understanding (MOUs), laying the foundation for expanding their global business networks and overseas market presence.

In addition, at GITEX ASIA 2026 held earlier in Singapore, Busan-based MediFun Co., Ltd. signed a strategic memorandum of understanding with a Thai medical tourism platform company and subsequently concluded a definitive agreement to establish a global joint venture, accelerating its expansion into the Southeast Asian market.

As regional blockchain companies continue to achieve global success through overseas joint ventures and recognition in international investor relations competitions, Busan Metropolitan City's Blockchain Specialized Cluster Development Project is also delivering tangible outcomes in supporting global market expansion.

In particular, Busan Metropolitan City plans to actively capitalize on growth opportunities in overseas blockchain markets with more flexible regulatory environments by expanding global business networks and supporting local companies in attracting investment and commercializing their businesses internationally.
