Donation in July, Vacation in August! Busan Metropolitan City Launches Summer Hometown Love Donation Event

Busan Metropolitan City announced that it will launch the “Donation in July, Vacation in August!” event to commemorate the launch of the 9th popularly elected administration and encourage participation in the Hometown Love Donation Program during the peak summer vacation season.

The event was designed to celebrate the new beginning of the 9th popularly elected administration together with citizens while creating special summer memories for visitors to Busan.

Beginning today (July 6) and running through July 31 for 26 days, anyone who makes a one-time donation of KRW 100,000 or more to Busan Metropolitan City through the Hometown Love Donation Program will be automatically entered without a separate application. Winners will be announced on Wednesday, August 5.

To mark the launch of the 9th popularly elected administration, Busan Metropolitan City has also added eight new thank-you gift items, including surfing experience vouchers. These can be viewed on the Hometown Love e-Donation website.

Some items will be made available sequentially depending on their sales schedule and system registration status.

The expanded tax credit benefits introduced through the 2026 amendment to the relevant legislation also apply, allowing donors to receive benefits that exceed the amount they contribute.

For a donation of KRW 100,000, the most common participation amount, donors receive a full tax credit of KRW 100,000 along with thank-you gifts worth KRW 30,000, for total benefits valued at KRW 130,000.

For a KRW 200,000 donation, donors receive a tax credit totaling KRW 144,000 under the revised tax credit rate (KRW 100,000 in full plus 44 percent of the additional KRW 100,000), together with thank-you gifts worth KRW 60,000, resulting in total benefits valued at KRW 204,000.

In addition, Busan Metropolitan City will offer special summer vacation prizes to up to 500 participants.

Every 1,000th donor (up to five winners) will receive a five-star hotel accommodation voucher in Haeundae for a premium vacation experience in Busan. Every 100th donor (up to 45 winners) will receive thank-you gifts worth KRW 60,000, while every 10th donor (up to 450 winners) will receive thank-you gifts worth KRW 30,000.

Hometown Love Donation funds are used to support projects that enhance the well-being of Busan citizens, including assistance for vulnerable groups, youth development, and the revitalization of local communities. Those wishing to participate may donate through the Hometown Love e-Donation website at www.ilovegohyang.go.kr or by visiting any NH NongHyup Bank branch nationwide.
