Mayor Chun Jae-soo Attends the Opening Ceremony of the Busan Comprehensive Support Center for Inclusive Finance, Stepping Up Efforts to Strengthen Livelihood Stability

Busan Metropolitan City, led by Mayor Chun Jae-soo, announced that the Mayor will attend the opening ceremony of the Busan Comprehensive Support Center for Inclusive Finance (hereinafter, the “Comprehensive Support Center”), hosted by the Financial Services Commission, at 10:50 a.m. today (July 3) in Jungang-dong, Jung-gu, to celebrate its opening and encourage those involved.

The ceremony will be attended by Mayor Chun Jae-soo, Financial Services Commission Chair Lee Eok-won, Korea Inclusive Finance Agency President Kim Eun-kyung (who also serves as Chair of the Credit Counseling and Recovery Service), and BNK Financial Group Chairman Bin Dae-in, among others.

The newly established Comprehensive Support Center, led by the Financial Services Commission and BNK Busan Bank, will serve as a one-stop hub connecting and providing policy-based inclusive financial services, debt restructuring, and employment and welfare services.

Operated under the Financial Services Commission, the Comprehensive Support Center brings together the Korea Inclusive Finance Agency, the Credit Counseling and Recovery Service, Smile Microcredit, and BNK Busan Bank to launch the nation’s first regionally tailored integrated support system for inclusive finance.

In particular, through collaboration with BNK Busan Bank, the region’s leading financial institution, the Center will introduce specialized financial products, including preferential interest rates, for residents of the Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongsangnam-do region.

The initiative is expected to serve as a reliable “financial ladder,” helping vulnerable borrowers who have faithfully repaid policy-based inclusive finance loans transition successfully into the mainstream financial system.

In addition, the Center plans to operate a regular outreach counseling service that visits communities throughout the region to assist underserved residents who are unable to access available support due to mobility limitations or a lack of information.

Meanwhile, since signing a memorandum of understanding with the Financial Services Commission in April 2025 on integrated financial and welfare support, Busan Metropolitan City has been providing coordinated assistance to households experiencing financial hardship.

With the opening of the Comprehensive Support Center, the City plans to further strengthen the achievements of its existing partnership and expand community-based, citizen-centered support services for local residents.

Mayor Chun Jae-soo is expected to say, “Today, households in crisis often face multiple challenges at once, including financial, welfare, and employment issues. Fragmented support alone is not enough to fully protect citizens’ lives. We must not allow citizens in desperate situations to become discouraged by having to knock on the doors of multiple institutions simply because they are unfamiliar with available support systems. We must boldly break down the barriers between institutions and systems to resolve interconnected crises through integrated assistance.”

He is also expected to add, “At a time when high inflation and the economic slowdown are placing unprecedented burdens on ordinary citizens and small business owners, I am truly pleased that this valuable center has been established to help ease the financial difficulties facing the people of Busan,” while expressing his appreciation to the Financial Services Commission and BNK Financial Group for their efforts in making the Comprehensive Support Center a reality.
