Busan Metropolitan City to Host the 2026 Organ and Tissue Donation Activation Workshop with Pusan National University Hospital and the Korea Organ Donation Agency

Busan Metropolitan City announced that it will hold the 2026 Organ and Tissue Donation Activation Workshop today (June 25) at 3:00 p.m. in the auditorium of Pusan National University Hospital, jointly with Pusan National University Hospital and the Korea Organ Donation Agency.

The workshop has been organized under the theme, “Busan United Through Life Sharing,” with the aim of establishing a community-centered collaborative framework to promote organ and tissue donation and foster a culture of life sharing.

In recent years, organ and human tissue donation has gained increasing recognition as a noble act of generosity that saves lives and offers new hope to many patients. However, amid rapidly changing healthcare environments and a continuing decline in donor numbers, closer and more systematic cooperation among local communities, medical institutions, and public organizations has become more important than ever.

Accordingly, Busan Metropolitan City plans to establish a collaborative framework that connects policy with medical practice and donation services in partnership with Pusan National University Hospital, the region’s leading public medical institution, and the Korea Organ Donation Agency, the nation’s specialized organization for organ and human tissue donation. Based on this partnership, the City will also seek to develop a Busan model for promoting organ and tissue donation.

The workshop program will include presentations and discussions on Busan Metropolitan City’s life-sharing policies, donor recognition and support programs, experiences from frontline healthcare professionals engaged in life sharing, and the value of life sharing and collaboration from the perspective of donation practice.

The event will conclude with a question-and-answer session and discussion involving all participants to strengthen community collaboration. Participants will share the roles of their respective organizations across the Busan region and engage in in-depth discussions on concrete and practical measures to promote organ and tissue donation.
