2026 First-Half Busan–Ulsan–Gyeongnam Supra-Regional Sectoral Working-Level Council Meeting Held

Busan–Ulsan–Gyeongnam Supra-Regional Economic Alliance Promotion Headquarters (hereinafter referred to as the “Promotion Headquarters”) announced that it will hold the “2026 First-Half Busan–Ulsan–Gyeongnam Supra-Regional Sectoral Working-Level Council Meeting” at the Convention Hall of Busan City Hotel at 2:00 p.m. today (June 22).

Approximately 90 participants will attend the meeting, including Kim Kyung-duk, Vice Mayor for Administrative Affairs of Busan Metropolitan City, and working-level committee members from the three metropolitan and provincial governments involved in Busan–Ulsan–Gyeongnam supra-regional cooperation projects.

The meeting has been arranged to share the implementation status of the 2026 Busan–Ulsan–Gyeongnam Economic Alliance cooperation initiatives and to discuss the achievements and future directions of newly identified supra-regional cooperation projects for 2027.

Major agenda items include a report on current issues related to the 2026 Busan–Ulsan–Gyeongnam Economic Alliance, a review of the status of key tasks by sector and coordination of differing views among local governments, and the sharing of the status and implementation directions of newly identified supra-regional cooperation projects for 2027.

In particular, the meeting will share the results of the 2027 cooperative projects jointly identified by Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongsangnam-do in response to the establishment of a Supra-Regional Special Account, a key mechanism of the national “5 Mega-Regions and 3 Special Zones” balanced growth strategy. Participants will also discuss joint response measures aimed at securing budget allocations for these projects.

The three local governments of Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongsangnam-do have identified 13 cooperation projects for 2027 focused on four key sectors: shipbuilding, future mobility, next-generation energy, and related strategic industries. Through this meeting, they plan to share progress and follow-up implementation directions and further strengthen their cooperative framework.

Lee Oh-sun, Head of the Busan–Ulsan–Gyeongnam Supra-Regional Economic Alliance Promotion Headquarters, stated, “Practical cooperation and joint action among local governments are more important than ever if Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongsangnam-do are to unite as a single economic region and emerge as the nation’s second growth axis.” He added, “I hope this working-level council meeting will help build consensus on key issues within each sector and serve as an opportunity to accelerate implementation, beginning with projects on which agreement can readily be reached.”
