Busan Metropolitan City to Host the 2026 Busan Fintech Hub CEO Workshop

Busan Metropolitan City, led by Mayor Park Heong-joon, announced that it will hold the “2026 Busan Fintech Hub CEO Workshop” today (June 19) at 4:00 p.m. at the Busan International Finance Center (BIFC).

The event will bring together Busan Metropolitan City officials, resident companies of the Busan Fintech Hub, partner organizations, and major business support institutions.

The Busan Fintech Hub is a platform established by Busan Metropolitan City in 2019 at the Busan International Finance Center (BIFC) and the Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry to foster fintech companies by supporting their initial settlement and business scale-up.

The Hub provides customized professional growth programs tailored to each stage of corporate development, including operation of a Financial Data Lab, corporate marketing and consulting services, professional developer training programs, and support for commercialization to strengthen business capabilities. Currently, 56 companies are located and clustered within the Hub.

The workshop will begin with a presentation of the Busan Fintech Hub’s major achievements, followed by case study presentations from outstanding resident companies, an appointment certificate ceremony for new Hub partners who will support the growth of resident companies, and a B-Fintech 20 certification ceremony recognizing startups that have demonstrated exceptional growth.

Key stakeholders driving the fintech ecosystem—including representatives of resident companies, sponsoring organizations, and partner enterprises—will gather to discuss strategies for supporting the high growth of resident companies and directions for expanding the Busan Fintech Hub ecosystem. The event is expected to strengthen ties among related organizations and create new opportunities for collaboration.

In particular, the workshop will unveil the Busan Fintech Hub’s impressive growth indicators. As of May 2026, a total of 56 companies are operating within the Hub (52 in U-Space and 4 in S-Space), while the cumulative number of resident companies over the past eight years has reached 122.

In addition, resident companies recorded combined sales of KRW 147.6 billion in 2025, bringing cumulative sales to KRW 357.4 billion. This represents a threefold increase compared with the previous year (2024). Furthermore, 32 percent of resident companies achieved more than tenfold annual revenue growth after joining the Hub, demonstrating its strong business incubation capabilities.

The cumulative amount of investment and financing secured by resident companies has also risen sharply. From approximately KRW 4 billion during the Hub’s early years, cumulative investment and financing reached KRW 143.6 billion as of June this year, representing approximately 150 percent growth year over year. As of April this year, the Hub-supported companies employed 432 people, with cumulative employment reaching 2,931, making a significant contribution to creating jobs for local youth.

To sustain this momentum, Busan Metropolitan City will appoint Busan Fintech Hub Partners composed of key executives from leading companies across various industries. These partners will serve as bridges supporting the advancement of resident companies by providing strategic consulting for B-Fintech 20 companies to achieve breakthrough growth, offering ongoing acceleration support to resident companies, and advising on the operation and future development of the Fintech Hub.

The B-Fintech 20 certification is awarded to fintech startups demonstrating outstanding growth in order to strengthen the regional fintech industry foundation. Selected companies receive a certificate issued in the name of the Mayor of Busan Metropolitan City, close consulting support from Hub partners, KRW 10 million in business support funding per company, and additional points in Fintech Hub extension evaluations, enabling focused support for business advancement.
