Busan Metropolitan City Launches the “Our Busan Hope Summer Click! Click! Click! Sharing Campaign” to Support Vulnerable Groups During the Summer Season

Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that it held the launch ceremony for the “Our Busan Hope Summer Click! Click! Click! Sharing Campaign” yesterday (June 16) at 3:00 p.m. in the Digital Donor Hall of Fame on the first floor of City Hall, together with the Busan Community Chest of Korea (Chairman Lee Soo-tae), to promote a culture of sharing throughout the year.

The campaign was designed to expand the culture of charitable giving beyond the traditional year-end holiday season and throughout the year, while enabling swift responses to key local welfare issues such as increasingly severe summer heat waves caused by climate change. The campaign will be conducted intensively for 31 days, from June 15 to July 15.

Approximately 20 participants attended the launch ceremony, including Lee Soo-tae, Chairman of the Busan Community Chest of Korea; Park Sun-hee, Director of the Busan Metropolitan City Comprehensive Support Center for Older Adults Living Alone; children from the City Hall daycare center; and other individual donors.

At the ceremony, Busan Metropolitan City made a donation as “Busan’s First Donor” to mark the successful launch of the campaign. This was followed by a relay of donations from citizens, including the City Hall daycare center children, through a donation kiosk.

In addition, a donation presentation ceremony was held to provide KRW 300 million in grant funding and summer support kits to help vulnerable residents safely endure the summer season.

Following the launch ceremony, the support will be distributed to 2,540 low-income households across the city through the Busan Metropolitan City Comprehensive Support Center for Older Adults Living Alone and customized elderly care service providers in each district and county.

Jeong Tae-gi, Director General of the Social Welfare Bureau of Busan Metropolitan City, stated, “Summer heat waves directly threaten the livelihoods and safety of low-income vulnerable groups and older adults living alone, widening welfare disparities. Through this campaign, the public and private sectors will work together to build a comprehensive summer welfare safety net, and we will do our utmost to provide administrative support so that the warm spirit of our citizens can continue to spread with a ‘Click! Click! Click!’ effect.”
