2026 Busan Cultural Heritage Care Day Cultural Heritage Care Experience Class Held

Busan Metropolitan City announced that it held the “2026 Busan Cultural Heritage Care Day” Cultural Heritage Care Experience Class at Busanjinseong Fortress in Dong-gu at 10:00 a.m. on June 13 to commemorate Cultural Heritage Care Day (June 10).

The event was organized by the Busan Cultural Heritage Care Center to provide citizens with an opportunity to directly experience cultural heritage care activities that are not easily accessible in everyday life and to better understand the value of local cultural heritage and the importance of its preservation.

Approximately 30 citizens participating as family groups took part in a variety of programs under the guidance of cultural heritage care specialists, including traditional Korean plastering, roof tile stacking, traditional paper application on windows and doors, and roof tile cleaning.

By directly handling traditional architectural materials and techniques, participants gained a deeper understanding of cultural heritage preservation and management processes and experienced firsthand the value of cultural heritage.

In particular, the event served as an opportunity to introduce citizens to the role and importance of the cultural heritage care project, which continuously preserves and manages cultural heritage, through hands-on experiences with traditional techniques that are actually used in cultural heritage care sites.

In addition, the experience-based programs enabled children and parents to participate together, helping to foster greater interest in and appreciation for cultural heritage preservation.

Cho Yu-jang, Director General of the Culture Bureau of Busan Metropolitan City, said, “We hope this Cultural Heritage Care Experience Class provided citizens with a meaningful opportunity to understand the value of national heritage and recognize the importance of its preservation,” adding, “We also ask for continued interest in the cultural heritage care project, which works diligently to protect our national heritage.”
