Bokcheon Museum to Operate “Bokcheon One-Day Workshop,” a Craft Experience Program for Adults

Bokcheon Museum, affiliated with the Busan Metropolitan City Museum, announced that it will operate “Bokcheon One-Day Workshop,” a craft and art experience program for adult participants, from June 26 through November.

The program will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on the last Friday of each month, with a schedule adjustment in September.

The program has been designed as a series of one-day classes combining the museum’s exhibition content with contemporary crafts. Moving beyond lecture-centered museum education for adults, it aims to increase interest in cultural heritage through hands-on participation in popular craft and art activities while expanding the museum’s role as a citizen-friendly cultural space.

In particular, the program incorporates themes from the museum’s permanent exhibition on the Bokcheon-dong Tombs, Busan’s representative Gaya archaeological site designated as a Historic Site, as well as themes from current special exhibitions. The craft activities are intended to enhance visitors’ understanding of the exhibitions while reflecting the interests and preferences of citizens.

In June and July, a Gaya-themed plaster mold ceramic workshop will be offered in connection with the special exchange exhibition “Memories of Tombs, Shaping Today.” In August, participants can create a terrarium inspired by the Bokcheon-dong Tombs. In September and October, a horse ornament warm art program will be held in conjunction with the special exhibition “Time We Ran Together: Stories of Horses Beside Us.” In November, participants can make a turtle figurine glass-art doorbell.

All classes will be led by professional instructors who will provide detailed guidance and assistance, enabling participants to create and keep high-quality craft works of their own.

A horse ornament warm art program is an environmentally friendly activity in which participants use fiber clay to handcraft horse ornaments and allow them to dry naturally.

Each session will accommodate 20 adult participants, and participation is free of charge. Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis through the Bokcheon Museum website (museum.busan.go.kr/bokcheon) from 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday until 6:00 p.m. on Friday of the week preceding each program date. Registration for the first session on June 26 will begin at 9:00 a.m. on June 17.
