Jeonggwan Museum to Hold Dano Festival Event “A Day Filled with the Fragrance of Sweet Flag”

Jeonggwan Museum, affiliated with the Busan Metropolitan City Museum, announced that it will hold the cultural event “A Day Filled with the Fragrance of Sweet Flag” on June 20 to celebrate Dano, one of Korea’s traditional holidays, introducing the nation’s unique seasonal customs while providing visitors with a distinctive and enjoyable experience.

The event was planned to help citizens rediscover the significance of Dano, which is gradually being forgotten in modern society, while offering opportunities to experience traditional culture and enhancing the museum’s role as an open and welcoming community cultural space.

Participants will complete a worksheet introducing Dano customs, allowing them to naturally learn about the holiday’s origins and traditions. The program has been designed so that people of all ages can participate easily and enjoyably.

In particular, inspired by the Joseon-era custom in which kings presented fans to their officials as a gesture wishing them strength to endure the summer heat, visitors who complete the worksheet will receive a Dano fan and a scented sachet.

In addition, a hands-on activity area will be set up in the first-floor lobby of the museum with brush pens and various decorating materials, allowing visitors to personalize the Dano fans they receive.

The event will take place from 10:00 a.m. in the museum’s first-floor lobby on June 20. Anyone may participate freely on a first-come, first-served basis without advance registration, and participation is free of charge.

The program is open to the first 100 visitor groups arriving at the museum that day, with one set of activity materials provided per group. Operations will be temporarily suspended from noon to 1:00 p.m. for site maintenance.
