Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that it will hold the “Busan Citizens Harmony Festival” today (June 7) at 10:00 a.m. at Samnak Ecological Park in Sasang-gu to commemorate the 56th anniversary of the Saemaul Undong Movement and the 16th Saemaul Day.

Hosted and organized by the Busan Saemaul Association, the event has been arranged to share the values and community spirit of the Saemaul Movement with citizens while promoting intergenerational harmony and communication.

Approximately 2,000 participants, including Saemaul members and citizens, are expected to attend, along with major city officials and local community leaders.

The event will feature a wide range of programs, beginning with a pre-event performance and followed by a commemorative ceremony, including the presentation of mayoral commendations, citizen participation activities, and cultural performances.

During the ceremony, awards will be presented to Saemaul leaders who have contributed to community development and volunteer service activities. Outstanding contributors will receive commendations from the Mayor of Busan Metropolitan City in recognition of their dedication and service.

In addition, a variety of citizen participation programs will be offered, including a literary writing contest, a drawing competition, and a five-line acrostic poem contest. Other activities will include a flash mob performance by young Saemaul members, the “Harmony Golden Bell” quiz event, and the “Generational Empathy Concert,” providing opportunities for people of all ages to enjoy and connect together.

Various side events will also be operated throughout the venue, including experience booths and food booths run by Saemaul associations from each district and county, as well as a Saemaul marketplace.

In particular, the Saemaul marketplace, where participants can share unused household goods and clothing, will help promote resource circulation and a culture of sharing.
