Busan Metropolitan City Launches Full-Scale “Permanent Immersive English Experience Program for Children”

Busan Metropolitan City, led by Acting Mayor Kim Kyung-duk, announced that from May 28 through the end of December, it will operate the “Permanent Immersive English Experience Program for Children” at the English-specialized Deullak Nallak space inside Busan Global Village, where children can enjoy learning English in a fun and engaging environment.

The English-specialized Deullak Nallak, which opened in February 2026, is a children’s complex cultural space centered on digital English-learning content. It is equipped with children’s English books and digital devices such as AI English tutors and LED media art installations, allowing children to experience play-based English learning.

The program consists of media wall-based English experiences, Waves Club, native speaker English book reading sessions, and cultural theme events.

The media wall-based English experience program uses monthly real-life themes such as hospitals, airports, and zoos in a role-playing format, enabling children to naturally encounter practical English expressions used in everyday life. The program is designed for children ages 4 to 7 and is operated in various participation formats including individual preschool classes, parent-accompanied classes, and group classes.

Waves Club is designed for children ages 6 to 7 and uses the Busan-style children’s English textbook “English Waves” to provide integrated activities including story-centered English reading and craft activities. The program is operated in sessions, with each session lasting two months, and four sessions will be offered this year.

The native speaker English book reading classes select monthly themes tailored to children’s developmental stages and help improve emotional sensitivity and English listening skills by reading English books related to those themes. The classes are open to children from age 5 through second grade of elementary school, with separate schedules for preschoolers and lower elementary students.

The city also plans to hold themed cultural events that combine seasonal cultural elements with English experience activities. Planned programs include summer vacation photo zones, Halloween English missions, and Christmas carol singing activities.

Participants for each detailed program will be recruited on a first-come, first-served basis through the Busan Global Village website (https://www.bgv.co.kr/).

Kim Gwi-ok, Director General of the Youth and Industry-Academia Bureau of Busan Metropolitan City, stated, “Through the AI- and digital-based English-specialized Deullak Nallak, we have created opportunities for children to experience English through hands-on activities and play.” She added, “We will continue linking English education infrastructure with diverse content to provide enjoyable and accessible English education programs for all children.”
