A Global Cultural Festival to Enjoy with the World to Be Held at Busan North Port!

Busan Metropolitan City announced that the 21st Busan Global Citizen Festival will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on May 23 at Busan North Port Waterfront Park in celebration of Together Day, observed annually on May 20.

○ The event is hosted by Busan Metropolitan City and the Ministry of Justice, and jointly organized by the Busan Global City Foundation and the Busan Immigration and Foreigners Office.

○ The Busan Global Citizen Festival is Busan’s representative global cultural festival held every May to commemorate Together Day. It is an international cultural event where citizens and foreign residents experience and exchange cultures from around the world together.

○ The opening ceremony will be held at 1:30 p.m. on May 23 and attended by the Director General of the Planning and Coordination Office of Busan Metropolitan City, the Head of the Busan Immigration and Foreigners Office, representatives of foreign diplomatic missions in Korea, and heads of related organizations.

In particular, this year’s festival, marking the 150th anniversary of the opening of Busan Port, will be held at Busan North Port Waterfront Park and feature approximately 100 organizations and groups from 37 countries, creating a stay-oriented global cultural festival where visitors can enjoy diverse cultures from around the world.

○ Embassies in Korea, foreign diplomatic missions in Busan, overseas tourism organizations, international organizations, and foreign resident communities will participate extensively, presenting various themed spaces including a World City Travel Zone, Global Values Promotion Zone, and Sister Cities Special Zone. Visitors will have opportunities to experience global cultures through diverse programs reflecting the unique characteristics of each city, such as a Mongolian ger experience and a Thai tuk-tuk exhibition.

○ In addition to traditional performances from around the world and invited performances from sister cities, the festival stage will also feature a special live public broadcast by Busan English Broadcasting (BeFM) and the Global Citizen Film Festival.

This year’s festival will also expand K-Culture experience programs and citizen participation content.

○ The newly introduced World City Dessert Zone will offer unique desserts and K-snacks from around the world, including British scones, French financiers, and Hong Kong milk tea. The K-Culture Experience Zone will provide hands-on programs such as beauty experiences and keyring-making activities.

○ Dynamic audience participation programs, including a Foreign Resident K-POP Contest and Random Play Dance sessions, will further energize the festival atmosphere.

In addition, the Busan Immigration and Foreigners Office will operate a comprehensive civil affairs consultation booth related to residency and visa matters for foreign visitors, helping address their concerns, while also presenting interactive content such as a World Flags Theme Experience Booth.
