“Media Contest for Improving Awareness of Out-of-School Youth” to Be Held

Busan Metropolitan City, led by Acting Mayor Kim Kyung-duk, announced that the Busan Metropolitan City Out-of-School Youth Support Center will hold the “Media Contest for Improving Awareness of Out-of-School Youth” from June 1 to 30.

The contest was planned to improve negative perceptions surrounding out-of-school youth.

Anyone across the country may participate by submitting various types of works themed around “Improving Awareness of Out-of-School Youth.” The contest includes two categories: “Image Content” and “Video (Audio) Content.”

The “Image Content” category includes card news, posters, webtoons, and similar formats, while the “Video (Audio) Content” category includes short films, animations, advertisements, stop-motion works, interviews, documentaries, and music videos.

Submitted works will undergo document screening and evaluations by internal and external experts through the end of July. A total of five winners will be selected, including one Grand Prize winner, one Excellence Award winner, and three Merit Award winners. Certificates and prizes are scheduled to be presented in August.

The results will be announced at the end of July on the website of the Busan Metropolitan City Out-of-School Youth Support Center (Youth Counseling and Welfare Center) at www.cando.or.kr, and winners will also be contacted individually.

Meanwhile, Busan Metropolitan City currently operates a total of 17 Out-of-School Youth Support Centers, including one city center and 16 district and county centers. These centers provide various customized programs to support out-of-school youth in returning to school and entering society, including counseling, qualification examinations, career and vocational experience programs, and cultural activities.

Park Seol-yeon, Director General of the Women and Family Bureau, stated, “We hope this contest will help raise social empathy and interest toward out-of-school youth and contribute to creating an environment where young people can realize their potential and pursue their dreams.” She added, “We will continue to make every effort to improve awareness and provide ongoing support so that out-of-school youth can grow into healthy members of society.”
