Busan Metropolitan City to Begin Additional Recruitment of Suppliers for 2026 Hometown Love Donation Program Gifts Starting Today (20th)

Busan Metropolitan City, led by Acting Mayor Kim Kyung-duk, announced that it will begin additional recruitment today (20th) for suppliers of return gifts for the 2026 Hometown Love Donation Program in order to further revitalize the program and continuously discover diverse return gifts that satisfy donors’ various preferences.

The Hometown Love Donation Program allows individuals to donate to local governments outside their place of residence and receive tax deductions (full deduction for donations up to KRW 100,000) along with return gifts. The donations collected are used as valuable financial resources to support vulnerable groups in Busan Metropolitan City and to promote citizens’ welfare and regional development through cultural and arts projects and other public initiatives.

Eligible applicants are businesses currently operating production or manufacturing facilities within Busan Metropolitan City that are capable of stably producing and supplying return gifts. Recruitment categories include agricultural, livestock, fisheries, and forestry products (regional specialties), processed foods and manufactured goods (including handicrafts), and tourism and service products (including admission tickets and experience vouchers).

Applicant businesses will undergo a comprehensive evaluation by the Return Gift Selection Committee, which will assess operational capabilities, community engagement, product composition, and the appropriateness of business plans before making final selections. Selected suppliers will begin providing return gifts to donors starting in June or upon conclusion of the agreement.

Currently, Busan Metropolitan City offers a wide range of products showcasing regional characteristics, including Daejeo salty tomatoes, fish cakes, mackerel, Dongbaekjeon local currency, and five-star hotel accommodation and buffet vouchers in Haeundae. Through this additional recruitment, the city plans to further expand premium products that reflect Busan’s unique appeal.

Businesses wishing to participate may prepare the required application documents and submit them in person to the Autonomy Administration Division at Busan Metropolitan City Hall between May 20 and May 28, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on weekdays only, excluding weekends and public holidays.

Meanwhile, Busan Metropolitan City is currently conducting a “Spring Big Event” through May 26 to promote the value of donations and encourage participation.

Individuals who donate KRW 100,000 or more to Busan Metropolitan City during the event period will be automatically entered into the promotion. In addition to receiving a full tax deduction for KRW 100,000 donations and return gifts worth approximately KRW 30,000, donors will also have the opportunity to receive additional prizes through a lottery.

Prizes include five-star hotel accommodation vouchers in Haeundae for donors whose donation order number is a multiple of 1,000; return gifts worth KRW 30,000 for donors whose donation order number is a multiple of 10; and either Dongbaekjeon local currency vouchers worth KRW 10,000 or mobile coffee coupons worth KRW 10,000 for donors whose donation order number is a multiple of 5. Winners will be announced individually and posted on the city website on June 5.
