Completion of Emergency Road Surface Maintenance Work Near Naeseong Underpass

Busan Metropolitan City announced today (17th) that it carried out emergency maintenance work on a total of 730㎡ of road sections near Naeseong Underpass where road surface unevenness had affected drivability. The work covered two sections measuring 60 meters across two lanes.

◈ This work was a preemptive measure by the city to address public inconvenience and secure the smoothness of the road surface along Jungang-daero.

◈ Following reports of inconvenience from citizens, traffic control began at 9:18 a.m. today (17th). Road surface maintenance work started at 12:30 p.m., and traffic toward Myeongnyun-dong resumed at 5:00 p.m. Partial vehicle restrictions toward Gyodae were lifted at 7:00 p.m., allowing full two-way traffic flow.

The affected road sections are areas where excavation inspections and road surface maintenance had previously been conducted due to residual ground subsidence on April 5.

◈ During a joint inspection conducted on April 8 by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Korea Authority of Land & Infrastructure Safety, no abnormalities such as underground cavities were found. However, monitoring and management for residual subsidence have continued.

◈ Although Busan Metropolitan City had originally planned maintenance work for the area before the rainy season, it prioritized today’s road surface leveling work to alleviate traffic inconvenience for citizens.

Busan Metropolitan City plans to continue minimizing inconvenience to citizens through ongoing monitoring and strengthened management efforts.
