Busan Metropolitan City Conducts Final Inspection for “LIV Golf Korea 2026” Preparations… Ready to Welcome Players and Galleries

Busan Metropolitan City, led by Acting Mayor Kim Kyung-duk, announced that it held a joint final inspection meeting with related organizations at 10:00 a.m. today (May 15) in the City Hall Video Conference Room to ensure the successful hosting of LIV Golf Korea 2026, the world-renowned golf tournament scheduled to begin on May 28.

The meeting was organized to minimize inconvenience to citizens and create a safe tournament environment, as 57 of the world’s top golfers are set to participate and approximately 60,000 spectators are expected to attend. The city conducted a detailed inspection of preparations by sector and established a continuous and systematic support framework among related organizations and operational sectors.

Through this preparation status meeting, the city plans to comprehensively review overall tournament progress and establish a support system that enables close cooperation with the LIV Golf tournament operations headquarters to provide seamless administrative support.

LIV Golf plans to deploy up to 1,062 operational personnel per day, including 488 safety staff members and 322 security personnel, to ensure smooth tournament operations.

IMG Media Korea, the organizer of LIV Golf, will announce detailed operational plans by sector, including tournament operations headquarters management, player support, transportation, parking and shuttle operations, crowd and traffic flow management, and medical support, while also reviewing overall preparation status to ensure successful tournament operations.

Busan Metropolitan City has established a Tournament Support Headquarters to minimize inconvenience related to transportation and parking for spectators and to create a proactive response system covering all aspects of the tournament, thereby ensuring a safe and pleasant competition and viewing environment.

Based on close cooperation with district offices, related organizations such as the police and fire authorities, and Asiad Country Club, the city will provide comprehensive administrative support across seven sectors: transportation, safety, environmental maintenance, healthcare, publicity and tourism, immigration, and course management.

In particular, for transportation management, the city plans to monitor major traffic routes and traffic flow around the venue in real time to improve convenience for galleries while minimizing inconvenience to citizens. In terms of safety, the city will establish a close cooperative system with police, fire departments, and medical institutions to ensure a safe and stable viewing environment even amid large crowds.

In addition, Busan Metropolitan City intends to use this tournament not merely as an international sporting event but also as an opportunity to promote Busan’s global city brand to the world. During the tournament period, the city plans to showcase Busan’s attractions to domestic and international visitors by linking the event with marine, tourism, culinary, and cultural content, thereby boosting the local economy and tourism simultaneously.
