2026 Busan Metropolitan City Cadastral Survey Competition Held… Enhancing Public Officials’ Capacity and Fostering Future Talent

Busan Metropolitan City announced that it held the “2026 Busan Metropolitan City Cadastral Survey Competition” at the Busan Human Resource Development Center on April 30.

In this competition, public officials responsible for cadastral survey result inspections from 16 districts and counties formed one team each and were evaluated on how quickly and accurately they could determine cadastral survey results within a given time.

Starting in 2026, a university division was newly established—the first of its kind nationwide—to foster future surveying talent. From 2027, the city plans to expand participation to include high school students, further advancing the competition.

As a result of the competition, Haeundae-gu was awarded the top prize in the public officials division, followed by Gijang-gun and Buk-gu with excellence awards. In the university division, Seong Ju-yeong of Kyungnam College of Information & Technology won the grand prize, while Kim Hyo-jin of Pukyong National University and Cha Sang-doo of Kyungnam College of Information & Technology received top excellence awards.

Haeundae-gu, the top team in the public officials division, will represent Busan at the 2026 National Cadastral and Drone Survey Comprehensive Competition hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport in Jeonbuk this September, aiming to achieve a prize at the national level.

Baek Myeong-gi, Director General of the Urban Planning Bureau, stated, “Cadastral surveying is a core task for protecting citizens’ property rights and realizing accurate land administration. This competition was designed not only to enhance the expertise and work capacity of public officials engaged in field operations but also to provide practical experience and opportunities for challenge to future surveying talents, including university students.” He added, “We will continue to expand platforms for exchange and competition involving industry, academia, and government to improve the quality of cadastral administrative services and foster outstanding talent.”
