Busan, the City Where Children Are the Happiest… 2026 Save the Children International Children’s Marathon to Be Held

Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that it will hold the “2026 Save the Children International Children’s Marathon” at Busan Citizens Park on May 2 at 9:30 a.m.

This marathon is a donation-based experiential event in which children and families run together to experience the importance of humanitarian assistance, aimed at supporting the growing number of children from migrant backgrounds in Korea. All participation fees will be used as donations for humanitarian support projects.

Approximately 2,000 participants, including children, families, and other citizens, are expected to take part in the event.

Under the slogan “Running Together Today, We Are One Team,” participants will run a 4-kilometer mini marathon course, enjoying an experience where fun activities become acts of giving.

The marathon is organized around the theme “The Longest Playground in the World,” emphasizing the meaning of starting from the same line, running in the same direction, and completing the course together.

The funds raised through participation fees will be used through Save the Children for a variety of support programs for vulnerable groups both domestically and internationally, with a focus on supporting children from migrant backgrounds in Korea.

Park Seol-yeon, Director General of the Women and Family Bureau of Busan Metropolitan City, stated, “I believe that children who participate in this event will grow into warm-hearted individuals who are attentive to the difficulties of others,” adding, “We will continue to strive to make Busan a city where children, the leaders of the future, are the happiest.”
