Busan Metropolitan City Autonomous Police Committee Holds Ceremony to Deliver Vehicles for the Protection and Support of Socially Vulnerable Groups

The Busan Metropolitan City Autonomous Police Committee (Chair Kim Cheol-jun, hereinafter referred to as the Committee) announced that it held a “Vehicle Delivery Ceremony for the Protection and Support of Socially Vulnerable Groups” yesterday (April 28) at 2:00 p.m. at the Busan Metropolitan Police Agency.

The event was attended by Kim Cheol-jun, Chair of the Busan Autonomous Police Committee, and Kim Seong-hee, Commissioner of the Busan Metropolitan Police Agency, along with police officers in charge of women and youth affairs at each police station and members of the Busan Metropolitan City Council’s Administrative and Cultural Committee.

Since 2024, the Committee has been promoting a project to deploy dedicated operational vehicles to the Women and Youth Divisions of police stations by securing city budget funding.

This initiative reflects the growing need for rapid response and on-site activities to strengthen the protection of victims of relational crimes such as domestic violence and dating violence.

Following the initial deployment of vehicles to six police stations in 2024, the Committee has completed the placement of operational vehicles for the protection of socially vulnerable groups at all 16 police stations under the Busan Metropolitan Police Agency by providing additional support to 10 police stations this year.

A police station official stated, “As on-site activities such as victim visits and monitoring to prevent relational crimes and recidivism continue to increase, having dedicated vehicles available at all times will be of great help.”

The Busan Metropolitan City Autonomous Police Committee expects that this vehicle support will improve on-site response conditions for protecting victims of relational crimes such as domestic violence and stalking and enable more rapid response.

Kim Cheol-jun, Chair of the Busan Autonomous Police Committee, said, “We will continue to promote policies to protect socially vulnerable groups such as women, children, and persons with disabilities by closely linking autonomous administration and public safety administration.”
