Busan Metropolitan City to Hold “2027 National Government Funding Securing Progress Report Meeting”

Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that it will hold the “2027 National Government Funding Securing Progress Report Meeting” today (23rd) at 9:00 a.m. in the City Hall video conference room, presided over by the Mayor.

The meeting has been organized to discuss measures for securing next year’s national government funding for projects essential to building a “global hub city” and to conduct a preemptive review of their progress.

As the government has announced plans to strengthen growth engines and focus on four key areas, including support for structural reform, through proactive fiscal management based on strategic resource allocation this year, the City plans to respond by advancing major municipal initiatives aligned with national core strategies.

The agenda for discussion includes: the status of discovering new projects linked to the government’s 2027 priority investment directions; the progress of major national government-funded projects such as the construction of Gadeokdo New Airport and the establishment of the regional growth talent development system (ANCHOR); and step-by-step response strategies for securing national funding through communication with the government and the National Assembly.

The City is identifying new projects centered on its five core strategies for this year’s municipal administration: a citizen-centered happiness city where everyone wants to live, a global maritime hub city, a global digital new industry city, a global finance, startup, and industry-academia collaboration city, and a global culture and tourism city. At the same time, it is exploring ways to maximize national funding for ongoing projects.

The City continues to refine and advocate for newly identified projects—based on analyses of regional demands and government policy trends—so that their necessity and importance are fully recognized by central ministries. For ongoing projects, it is focusing on stable national funding by managing implementation progress and total project costs.

Mayor Park Heong-joon stated, “Based on close communication with the government and the National Assembly, we will concentrate our administrative capacity to secure the largest-ever national funding,” adding, “We will actively identify and promote projects that will shape the region’s long-term future and realize Busan as a global hub city where people would choose to live again even if reborn.”
