Traffic Control on 1st Mandeok Tunnel Due to Electrical Conduit Safety Reinforcement Work

Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that traffic control will be implemented on both directions (Oncheon-dong ↔ Mandeok-dong) of the 1st Mandeok Tunnel from April 10 to April 12 due to electrical conduit safety reinforcement work.

This reinforcement work inside the 1st Mandeok Tunnel is being carried out to proactively prevent potential vehicle safety accidents caused by the detachment of aging electrical conduits and to provide a safer road environment for citizens. The construction will be undertaken by YS Technology Co., Ltd.

<Construction Overview> - Project Name: Electrical Conduit Safety Reinforcement Work inside the 1st Mandeok Tunnel - Location: Oncheon-dong, Dongnae-gu ~ Mandeok-dong, Buk-gu [1st Mandeok Tunnel (Oncheon-dong ↔ Mandeok-dong)] - Scale: One set of electrical conduit reinforcement work - Construction Period: Apr. 10, 2026 – Apr. 12, 2026

Traffic control will apply to both directions (Oncheon-dong ↔ Mandeok-dong) and will be conducted for six hours from 11:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. the following day, avoiding peak commuting hours when traffic congestion is expected.

During this period, both directions of the 1st Mandeok Tunnel will be fully closed, and drivers are advised to use alternative routes such as the 2nd Mandeok Tunnel.

Jin Bong-sang, Head of the Construction Safety Testing Office of Busan Metropolitan City, stated, “We will strive to complete the work safely and promptly to minimize inconvenience to citizens and shorten the traffic control period,” adding, “We ask for the active cooperation and understanding of citizens regarding the traffic control.”
