Celebrate Spring with a Donation to Busan: “Hometown Love Donation” Spring Big Event

Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that it will launch the “Busan Hometown Love Donation Spring Big Event” to support the successful hosting of The 20th National Youth Para Games and The 55th National Junior Sports Festival to be held in Busan in 2026, while also encouraging participation in the Hometown Love Donation program.

The event will run for 56 days from today (April 1) through May 26. In particular, in commemoration of the nationwide sports events taking place from mid-May, the event period has been aligned to conclude on May 26, the closing day of The 55th National Junior Sports Festival. During this period, anyone who donates 100,000 KRW or more in a single contribution to Busan Metropolitan City (City Hall) will be automatically entered without a separate application.

Notably, starting this year, revisions to relevant laws have significantly expanded tax credit benefits, increasing the practical value for donors. Previously, a flat tax credit rate of 16.5 percent (including local income tax) was applied to the portion exceeding 100,000 KRW. However, beginning this year, the tax credit rate for amounts up to 200,000 KRW has been substantially increased to 44 percent.

For a donation of 100,000 KRW, donors will receive the same benefits as last year: a full 100,000 KRW tax credit and a return gift worth approximately 30,000 KRW, totaling 130,000 KRW in benefits. Additionally, through this event, donors will have the opportunity to win extra prizes.

For a donation of 200,000 KRW, donors will receive a tax credit of 144,000 KRW (100,000 KRW fully credited plus 44 percent of the additional 100,000 KRW) along with a return gift worth approximately 60,000 KRW, resulting in a total value of 204,000 KRW—exceeding the original donation amount and expanding the range of highly rewarding contributions.

To welcome athletes, their families, and springtime donors visiting Busan during the sports events, the city has prepared an unprecedented selection of prizes that allow participants to fully enjoy the charm of Busan. In particular, accommodation vouchers can be used even during the peak summer season, which is expected to attract significant interest from donors.

Donors whose participation order is a multiple of 1,000 will receive a “five-star hotel stay voucher in Haeundae,” offering the opportunity to enjoy a premium staycation in Busan during the upcoming peak summer vacation season.

Donors whose participation order is a multiple of 10 will receive “local specialty products worth 30,000 KRW,” while those whose participation order is a multiple of 5 will receive either “Busan local currency Dongbaekjeon (10,000 KRW)” or a “mobile coffee coupon (10,000 KRW),” adding further enjoyment to the act of giving.

The Hometown Love Donation funds are used for various projects aimed at improving the welfare of Busan citizens, including support for vulnerable groups and revitalization of local communities. Those wishing to participate can easily make donations through the “Hometown Love e-um website” (https://ilovegohyang.go.kr) or at NH NongHyup Bank branches nationwide.
