Busan Metropolitan City Announces 2026 Regular Disclosure of Public Officials’ Asset Changes

The Busan Metropolitan City Public Service Ethics Committee (hereinafter referred to as “the Committee”) announced that, in accordance with Article 10 of the Public Service Ethics Act, it will disclose asset changes as of December 31, 2025, for 187 public officials under Busan Metropolitan City, including heads of public service-related organizations and district and county council members subject to asset disclosure.

The information is available from 12:00 a.m. today (26th) through the Busan Metropolitan City Bulletin (www.busan.go.kr/news/gosiboard) and the Public Ethics System (PETI).

The average declared asset amount for the 187 individuals subject to disclosure is KRW 946 million, representing an average increase of KRW 7 million compared to the previous declaration. Among them, 116 individuals (62%) reported an increase in assets, while 71 individuals (38%) reported a decrease.

Factors contributing to the increase include rising stock prices, business income and salary savings, and increases in financial assets such as deposit interest. Factors contributing to the decrease include declines in officially assessed real estate values, decreases in the value of unlisted stocks and virtual assets, and exclusions from reporting due to family members’ refusal to disclose or children’s marriages.

The Committee will review the disclosed asset changes of public officials by the end of June. If any cases of inaccurate or negligent reporting are identified during the review, measures such as warnings, corrective actions, fines, or requests for dismissal or disciplinary action will be taken in accordance with relevant regulations.

Meanwhile, asset changes of public officials subject to review by the Government Public Service Ethics Committee—such as political appointees, senior civil servants (Grade I), city council members, and heads of districts and counties—will be disclosed on the same day through the Official Gazette of Korea (gwanbo.go.kr) and the Public Ethics System website (www.peti.go.kr).
